Personal development, health and physical education
Personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE) is mandatory from Kindergarten to Year 10.
According to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), students are expected to participate in PDHPE for between 1.5 and 2.5 hours per week in Kindergarten to Year 6.
PDHPE provides students with opportunities to explore issues that are likely to impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others – now and in the future. Students also participate in challenging and enjoyable physical activity, improving their capacity to move with skill and confidence.
Kindergarten's Sport day is Friday. Children must wear their sport uniform on this day.
Year 1 and Year 2 Sport day is Friday. Children must wear their sport uniform on this day.
Our MLIS Sport Uniform is a yellow t-shirt, grey shorts and sports shoes. In winter students may wear their grey tracksuit. All children need to wear their school hat every day.
Students at MLIS are participating in the 'Got Game' Sport program this year.
Kindergarten enjoy a weekly structured play program and love getting outside to practise their balance skills on the fort. They are learning how to control their bodies and are working hard on their fundamental movement skills like running, skipping, hopping and throwing.
Stage 1 (Year 1 and 2) are working on consolidating their fundamental movement skills and are beginning to apply these skills in games and sports.
